What Does a Tree Report Include?
1. Tree Survey Plan
This is simply a drawn plan showing the location of every single tree in the specified area to an exact scale.
2. Information Schedule of Each Tree
Each tree is given a unique reference number, and we record:
• The scientific and/or common name of each species
• If there is a Tree Preservation Order in place, or if the tree is within an Edinburgh Conservation Area
• Height of every tree in meters
• Stem Diameter (cm) measured from 1.5 above ground level
• The ‘branch spread’ to North, South, East and West
• Age class: categorised as young, semi-mature, mature, over-mature and veteran
• Physiological and structural condition — documenting the health of the tree and any defects
• Preliminary tree management recommendations
• Remaining ‘useful life’ of the tree
• A Tree Quality Assessment — this uses the above data to categorise trees for removal or retention
3. A Tree Constraints Plan
• Provide accurate information on the position and crown spread of each tree
• A Tree Quality Assessment
• Document the root protection area of each tree
• The future growth potential (crown spread and height)
• The approximate tree shade footprint throughout the day — based on the tree’s future growth potential
