Edinburgh Tree Surgeons takes the issues of the climate crisis and loss of ecosystems very seriously.

As we work outdoors every day of the year, the living landscape is our office, and we want to preserve it for our children.

Our Promise

• To recycle all our day to day green waste, either using council services or on site as mulches or composts
• We aim for zero waste in our practices at all times, and no green waste ends up in landfill
• All our excess timber is taken to be reused for firewood or timber, or by woodturners or artists
• We have ecological office practices and recycle paper products and minimise our waste wherever possible. We also heat our office with our waste wood!
• Wildlife legislation is complied with and upheld – the Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981 – particularly with reference to nesting birds. We will schedule work for after birds have fledged if nests are discovered on inspection or initiation of work.
• We encourage replanting and tree management not removal where possible.
• Bird and bat boxes to encourage wildlife can be instated where required.
• Edinburgh Tree Surgeons recognise the importance of preserving our heritage trees as wildlife habitats and key species in ecosystems.

Had a large sycamore tree in the back garden that had become overgrown and neglected for many years, this was becoming a potential risk to the building. Alan turned up for a quote on time and gave great advice on what his team could accomplish safely and with minimum impact on the trees’ health.

On the day of the job, Alan and his team turned up promptly and set up their safety equipment. The tree was beautifully trimmed back to a healthy shape and condition, with nothing large or structural removed from the tree. All this was achieved with some impressive working at height skill and harness work.

All trimmings were collected and removed from location. One really professional touch was the use of a camera and tripod to capture before, during and after pictures of the tree. Very happy with all aspects of the job and will be passing on their business card to friends and family
